yesterday i started on a new book - Inside The Whale tapi agak kureng seronak..so this morning i changed to PS I Love U; pegi balik kerja dapat baca 4 chapters. and its one of those books you just cant put down i tell u...baru baca 4 chapters dah welled up. haiyooo.
everyday on the bus, mesti ada at least one person yang baca buku and this morning i saw at least 4 avid readers. if only more of orang kita kat msia instill that habit. i read because i want my journey time to pass by quickly and i can only do leisure reading while travelling on public transport. nak baca buku sekolah kena dalam library or office
i've watched the movie, adapted from the book. memang tearjerker habis. but as usual, mesti ada difference between the movie & book. in the movie, Holly is american and lives in the States; while in the book Holly is irish (author Cecilia Ahern is the Irish PM's daughter) and lives in Ireland. but the story line is about the love of a young widow & how the late husband guides her thro her grief and carry on with her life.
Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past... Written by Orange (from imdb.com)
Cecelia Ahern's debut novel, PS, I Love You, follows the engaging, witty and occasionally sappy reawakening of Holly, a young Irish widow who must put her life back together after she loses her husband Gerry to a brain tumour. Gerry has left Holly a series of letters designed to help her face the year ahead and carry on with her life. As the novel takes readers through the seasons (and through Gerry's monthly directives), we watch as Holly finds a new job, takes a holiday to Spain with her girlfriends, and sorts through her beloved husband's belongings. (from amazon) . so far, i love the part when she went to her hairdresser Leo..and how he cheered her up!
a MUST watch & read.. but as i said to EFS (and she kind agreed), its not an audio book for her to listen to while driving, nanti tak nampak jalan raya sebab mata asyik berpeluh
