skeggy

on saturday we went to skegness aka skeggy to the locals; the first time ever and probably the last time. we heard so much about the place, nothing to shout about really; just a seaside town with big theme park off the coastline in Lincolnshire, 2 hours drive away from notts. 

weather wasnt good that morning; cloudy with light rain.  since we've  already promised the kids that we were going,  we just went ahead with our plan. we spent 2 hours in skeggy - walked on the pier, let the kids have a go on the giant slide followed by a lovely fish n chips lunch.

 fresh (not frozen) fish & chips...highlight of the day. i like the shop's tagline "we dont insult our customers by serving frozen fish"

 then we drove few miles north to Fantasy Island at Ingoldmells; the theme park was better than the ones in skeggy and there's a big outdoor market in Fantasy Island with over 200 stalls. rasa macam shopping di Pengkalan Kubur or Rantau Panjang; minus the  huge roller coaster over 2000 feet long,  towering 200 ft above the ground and goes around the theme park.

kids had a go at few rides, even the little missy was brave enough to go on her own. plan to play at the beach off Chapel St Leonard was cancelled cos it rained and little missy was asleep after too much excitement for a day.  

well i suppose, u wouldnt know what the place is like till you see for yourself.  honestly, in my opinion, for the prices we paid for the rides, i would rather take the kids to legoland and drayton manor/thomas land.

goosebumps

the much awaited day finally came..Alhamdulillah, after just one lafaz, yasin & scha are declared husband & wife. i'm really happy for them both  (him especially) & his 2 children and of course my mom.

 glad that everything went smoothly.  last nite (actually this morning at 1.30am) before i went to sleep, i thot of them, missed my mom & siblings and wished we were there.

petang ni mood-less. punca utama : homesick & sedih mengenangkan mak bonda, adik beradik, sepupu sepapat semua nya berangkat pulang ke KB untuk menghadiri upacara perkahwinan 2 pasang pengantin. 

at  9 pm, friday  27/5, berlansungnya majlis pernikahan my cousin kawthar aka kosat to her beau, dr hafiz at the bride's parents' house.

someone bid farewell  to her beloved soulmate which have been with her since she was born..both girls had dental appointment for 6 months routine check at 4pm; kakak's teeth are ok but not adik's.  yesss.. she's still drinking her (fresh) milk from the bottle until 2pm today. the dentist wasnt happy at all cos the bottle ruined her front teeth and asked her to chuck her bottles of which she happily obliged.

soon as we got home, we had the historic ceremony..

 and she followed suit. tak dramatic pun..good girl!

these kids would listen their teachers, doctors and dentists' order but not their parents!!

starting school

this morning, i received the starter pack from little missy's "infant" school - thats the term they use here for children between the ages of 4-7

masa mula2 datang dulu pening jugak nak paham the education system here.  basically, the cut off date is 31st August of the year.  in the case of little missy, she was 4 in january this year; so when the new school term starts in september, she's 4+ &  should  attend Infant School, starting in Reception Class. sept nx year ,  she will proceed to Year 1 then Year 2.  after that the child will go to Junior School till she completes Year 6, at the age of 10.

when we moved here in jan 2006,  big missy was 6 1/2 years old and went straight to Year 2 as she was already 6 in sept 2005. so we never really experienced  that "first day of school" thing like almost all parents go thro. i'm excited/anxious with little missy's going to 'real' school; all day  from  8.45-3.30pm. pandai ke nak gi toilet sendiri, nak makan at lunch time, nak tukar baju PE. etc.

these came in with the starter pack and i've read it to her. 

she's all excited to start school, mummy yang risau (+ sedih) .. hmmmm where did the time go?? diam tak diam, our kenit dah nak masuk sekolah.

The Vows

this post goes to my younger brother and his future wife who are about to embark into their new life  in few days time.

never thot i would be struggling for words to write.. i'm glad that my brother finally found someone to share his life with. my better half  said "its about time..".

i'm happy and yet sad; happy that he's  finally getting hitched but sad for not being able to be with him & the family on this joyous occassion.  nevertheless my du'a goes to them  both just the same.

have a wonderful life together, look after, respect and honour one another, promise to love unconditionally, in sadness and in joy, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer.

Congratulations to yasin & scha and my brother's teenage children - afif & jasmeen, my siblings for getting a sister and last but not least to my mom who gains another daughter. Insyaallah semua nya selamat & berjalan lancar on the big day nanti..

she's having the time of her life! she only announced to her friends via fb that she was going to South America to fulfill her travel dream, before she left  for KLIA on friday nite. she must have made her travel plans for ages without anyone smelling it. good on u babe.. i hope she starts her travelogue soon - its long overdue!!

what weekend??

yup, i didnt have a weekend. my weekend was spent in the classroom, few hours belajar pasal CDM &  Health and Safety and another 1 1/2 days belajar macamana nak buat work programme/network diagram guna primavera. i must admit, i am sooo slow bab2  programming ni cos my heart is not in it at all; bertambah lah liat nak menyiapkan assignment. ask  me to read or write about anything, i will do it but jangan lah suruh buat benda2 guna special software ni. i left the classroom tired and frustrated.

balik from class, tengok kain baju yg dah basuh  menggunung, menunggu utk dilipat & digosok malam nanti. nasib baik lah encik suami  so supportive & helpful - he's now cooking dinner. and the kids are behaving well, independent, playing together and not interrupting my ME time.

tomorrow onwards till end of june will see me burying my head into the piles of  over 200 pieces of students' coursework & exam scripts, diselangi dengan 2 pieces of coursework yang  nak kena hand-in on 3/6 and 11/6.  i really hope to complete my studies this sept; its just too taxing for me - physically & mentally.

Setarbak dah bertukar menjadi office and i like working in here - bright & warm & green and most importantly its next to the kitchen, senang nak buat kopi.

i think i need to get my eyes checked after i finish all this & need new pair of glasses..

after WHSmith, i walked  over to the  opposite shop. 2 days ago, i got this in the post,  with the charge card statement.

hmmm dapat 25% discount voucher pun jadi lah..and valid up to tomorrow; so timely sangat2.  Dot Pert is  affordable for me, infact i bought lots of their plain tops. tadi ada few items on sale, and boleh guna the voucher to purchase sale items. bought 2 checked shirts, 1 black/white striped top and a pair of shades for summer wear.  i hope i wont grow sideways so that i can still wear them next year.

then, my last stop - my peberet shop across the road; took the escalator down to the basement to the household section and i got these among other things.

jamie oliver mugs with inscriptions on the bottom; hence called  "bottom line mugs"

set of 3 tins for treats, bicuits and cake for my youngest sis in law who enjoys baking and a tin collector  like me.

bought these for the cannisters.. i know my sis in law would probably set her eyes on the blue & white one on the right.

today, weekend school finished at 4.30pm. i was soooo tired but dying for the much needed retail therapy. contrary to everyone's belief, i'm not a shopaholic, more like a window shopper though. after class with just 1.5-2 shopping hours left, i managed to dash to selective shops to get few things.

first stop - WHSmith bookstore. ada offer 3 for 2 on all fiction and travel books.

this was highly recommended by R&J, got to get this book after listening to their interview with sarah winman. today's offer - half price (£3.99)  with purchase of any book instore.  "dont judge the book by its cover" is so befitting; When God Was a Rabbit  has nothing to do with any religious belief; its about a brother & a sister.

 this book is on 1/2 price offer at £3.99; so i got  the 2 books for  £7.98; technically buy 2 for 1.

 this is one of the latest by Cornwell; bought this for my sis in law & saving it for her upcoming trip in august. siap ada qualifier, see sticker at  the bottom of the cover that says  "if you dont LOVE this book, we'll give you your money back". i have to keep the sticker and receipt - just in case!
