noise complaint..what noise????
yes, the blog has been collecting dust & cobwebs.. my bad.. blame it on laziness..so many things happened since i last blogged but i will not go as far back as 2-3 months ago.
what motivated me to write again?? the recent unfortunate event for big missy and her friends in the Robin Hood Youth Orchestra.
big missy joined Nottingham Music School early this year, playing percussion instruments, started with Intermediate Orchestra (the younger ones - she called them the babies) and progressed to the Robin Hood (previously known as Nottingham) Youth Orchestra in Sept. she enjoys it despite having to wake up early every Saturday morning and spends 4 hours weekly at the Nottingham Academy.
lately they have performed in series of major events
6/12/2013 - lighting up city xmas tree/lights at Old Market Square
11/12/2013 - Christmas in the City Concert at Royal Concert Hall (that was a huge event and brilliant!!)
14/12/2013 - Charity Christmas Concert at Victoria Shopping Centre
we went to all their concerts and like other parents, we are so proud of our daughter. she must have played at least 7 different instruments, some i dont even know what they are called.
last saturday, when they played at Vic Centre, they were asked to leave the shopping centre after complaints it was too noisy.. what the hell???? they had been booked to play from 10-1pm but were asked to stop at 11am after performing 2 sets after receiving a number of complaints about the noise levels. what noise??? the shoppers and audience were enjoying it!! Ian, the music director managed to get another venue in the open space at Trinity Square within minutes and they did the flash mob which was really good.. the unfortunate event is in few online news - BBC, Guardian, Belfast telegraph, Nottingham Post to name but a few.

its so ridiculous.. as Ian said in the press statement "It's a bit disappointing for them (the children) when they're trying to do good, when there's so much bad around and they're told they can't do it."

Cold sunny day
At home. Took half day to watch little one's school play. She'll also be singing in the choir tonight for the lighting up.

Progress
After many months of lessons, and missing one last week, she has surprised me with sudden progress. Little one is now able to swim the front stroke for about 1/2 the length of the swimming pool. Alhamdulillah.
