on Saturday we started off with nasi belauk for breakfast. for lunch we went to my uncle, Pak Su War (mom's youngest bro), where we were served nasi kerabu kuning full accessories and ayam percik 'roundabout lemal' and also laksam. phuuh!!

for dinner, my cik mun made her signature dish - middle eastern style 'phool and scrambled egg with minyak sapi', makan dengan baguette/french loaf. lupa pulak nak ambik gambar...

on Sunday we attended my cousin, Sham's wedding. sham is my aunty Yam (dad's younger sister)'s youngest son. Aunty Yam has 2 daughters - Suzy (in previous post) and Rina, who came back from Dublin for the wedding & also for summer break. i got to meet lots of relatives at the wedding.

week 2 in msia

back from JB and having only tuesday, wednesday and thursday in KL, we tried to see as many people and do as much as possible.

we visited mimi's mum (wan/grandma mun) at mimi's house at Bukit Utama. my goodness... there had been lots of changes since we left. more houses were built at Bukit Utama and Puncak Utama and few houses were renovated as well.

the new houses at Puncak Utama/renovated house at Bukit Utama, from 4 rooms jadi tak tau berapa bilik and according to mimi, siap ada lift in the house!!

the new Bkt Antarabangsa mosque - Masjid al Hidayah is being built, directly opposite mimi's house. pic taken from mimi's porch

Aisyah went for piano lesson at Yamaha music school at Ampang Point, an hour a week, with her then piano teacher, Teacher Carol.

after the piano lesson, we took her to Poh Kong jeweller to get her ears pierced.

we had time in the morning to take the kids swimming at the apartment's pool.

and we managed to squeeze our time to meet up with friends. I went out for 'updating session' and dinner with Mira, Onnair, Lisa and Hisham at Putrajaya; while hubby had his kopi ais session with his friends Sapi and Torai. also we met up with Norly and Jamel (my friends from ITM and Glasgow days; who are now successful husband & wife business partners) for lunch at kopi tiam at Tmn Setiawangsa.

our weekends in msia - part 1

our first weekend in msia was basically spent at home, receiving guests.

2nd weekend was pretty busy. on Saturday morning, we went to my uncle, Ayah Cik Nan's house for breakfast, in conjuction wi their first grandchild, Amir Yusof's first birthday. biasa la, invitation was for 9.30am but we left our place at 10.30am, got there for brunch !!

aisyah & her cousin Najla

his wife, Cik Zah prepared nasi kerabu, spaghetti, rojak buah and also satay (which they bought). we met up with my uncle Aman and his ceria family, cousins Eddy and Suzy and their respective families, my brother Yasir and his family. cukup la menggamatkan suasana.

back row - my cousins noreen, shida (cousin eddy's wife) and suzy,
front row - my aunties in law - aunty marina and aunty zah

after the birthday brunch, we left for JB, balik kampong hubby; not that he spent much of his childhood in JB, setakat born there. after checking in at Eden hotel (new name is the Zon), we went to hubby's elder brother, Cik Mad (or Mohd Radzi)'s house. his wife Kolin cooked sumptuous dinner - masak lemak ketam, sambal tumis udang, ayam goreng, sayor etc.. macam2 lauk sampai tak tau nak makan yang mana. we were so used to the most pun, 2 dishes aja kalau kat notts. after dinner berborak sampai 1am, we took their kids, Anisha and Tasha to the hotel with us. Aisyah had always been pretty close to her cousins.

aisyah, anisha,aliyah and tasha

the next morning we went to Tanah Perkuburan Mahmoodiah, to visit kubur hubby's parents - arwah Wan Rahim & Zahrah and also arwah Cik Neng. then we visited Tina, whose husband, Yahya is hubby's cousin and passed away 2 years ago. then we drove to Taman Perling to visit Kak Ani and family. Kak Ani and her late husband Uda used to look after hubby when he was a small boy. masa kat Notts lagi hubby had stated his intention to visit kak ani if we are back in JB.

at nite, we went out to dinner with Mira and family. coincidently Mira pun balik JB to visit her parents. Mira and Izwan took us to Alam Seafood Restaurant at Kg Danga, perkampungan orang asli. the food was great - blackpepper crab, deepfried crispy sotong, seafood taufu, butter prawn, kangkung belacan.

on Sunday, we checked out of the hotel and stopped at Cik Mad's house again. and again Kolin insisted that we had lunch before leaving for KL. on the way back to KL, stopped over at Pak Aji, Wan Mahmood who's hubby's only surviving uncle.

3F

its been more than a week since we got back. nak update blog pun tak de mood cos broadband is soooo slow... as quoted by my friend Ighwan, "its not slow its just crawling to a halt"!! i do miss our virgin broadband.

apart from 3F - FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FOOD, we dont seem to miss much about KL. traffic is really bad, people drive like mad, i kind of lost my confidence in driving.

anyway, in just less than 2 weeks here, we've put on some weight, been busy meeting friends and visiting relatives.

weekdays were filled with meeting friends and relatives in Klang Valley, weekends spent outstation and when we met them, mesti makan punya...

when we arrived at Dubai airport, we headed straight to Mc D. hubby was grinning from ear to ear..

when we arrived at Bukit Antarabangsa, we had KFC, kak wan & Abg Yeb made roti jala, mihun etc.
the next day we received so many guests - Onnair, Yan, Naza, Su and Lyn and their families. masing2 brought food and fruits - rambutan, manggis, satay..

the following nite, my brother in law, Khairul bought durian... berkelah at the balcony.. Aisyah just loves durian, Aliyah just didnt even bother trying.

on Monday i went to putrajaya to meet up with old friends for lunch at Malee in Dengkil while hubby went to Air Asia office at LCCT. Aliyah came with me and Aisyah followed her daddy. Aliyah had a first taste of ABC and loved it

on the way home from putrajaya singgah Great Eastern Mall, yan bought us dinner at Kopi Tiam
tuesday morning, did some errands, petang visited my granduncle Nik Mahmood, had dinner at my friend Sally's house and afer that stopped at Su's house; all of them at Kota Damansara. pukul 11 malam pun berjalan lagi... which is unheard of in Notts.

on wednesday had lunch at hubby's brother, abg yeb's house. kak wan cooked sambal tumis udang, ayam goreng, masak lemak ketam and kangkong belacan, dessert - pengat pisang and pulut durian. perrrghhhh!!

the kids got attached to their cat, blackie

thursday pulak, lunch at Chilly's in KLCC with our closest pals, Sapi, Oya and Ainol, courtesy of Oya... hubby ordered the biggest steak in the house which is just 11oz!
after the heavy lunch, took the kids out to the fountain area outside suria.
at night, we had dinner at hubby's other brother, Shah. his wife maziah cooked marvellous dishes which included masak lemak ikan with mangga...

on friday, went to putrajaya again to have lunch at lakeclub with onnair, jot, shina and lin, courtesy of onnair. then lepak2 at her office and had teh tarik and lempeng ubikayu bakat at precinct 9 food court...

will continue with our eating spree...

gud to be back

we arrived safely on malaya land on friday 11th july after 14 hours flight and 3 hours transit in dubai. flight for both sectors were ok. from birm to dubai, penuh dengan 'curl-ins' and from dubai to KL packed with arabs and malaysians. dubai airport was a happening place. first thing first - Mc Donalds!!

it was Aliyah's first experience on airplane and she was really good, slept most of the time which allowed me to eat peacefully and watched movies. Aisyah first flew long distance was also at Aliyah's age, when we took her for umrah in year 2000.

food on emirates were good, the stewardesses were helpful and tak sombong. not that we are anti MAS but we are of the opinion that MAS stewards/desses suka layan mat salleh or first.business class paseengers saja.

we landed at KLIA at 9.30pm, as scheduled, first few passengers to board off and went thro immigration but waited for a while to get the baggages and aliyah's push chair.

meriah betul at the arrival hall, rasa macam balik from haj pulak! our family members were there to meet us. upon hubby's request, my cousin ilani went to KFC at wangsa maju on the way home, to get 'bucket' size chicken. kak wan abg yeb made roti jala & mihun goreng as well..

it was really great to be back...there's no place like home!!!
