noise complaint..what noise????
yes, the blog has been collecting dust & cobwebs.. my bad.. blame it on laziness..so many things happened since i last blogged but i will not go as far back as 2-3 months ago.
what motivated me to write again?? the recent unfortunate event for big missy and her friends in the Robin Hood Youth Orchestra.
big missy joined Nottingham Music School early this year, playing percussion instruments, started with Intermediate Orchestra (the younger ones - she called them the babies) and progressed to the Robin Hood (previously known as Nottingham) Youth Orchestra in Sept. she enjoys it despite having to wake up early every Saturday morning and spends 4 hours weekly at the Nottingham Academy.
lately they have performed in series of major events
6/12/2013 - lighting up city xmas tree/lights at Old Market Square
11/12/2013 - Christmas in the City Concert at Royal Concert Hall (that was a huge event and brilliant!!)
14/12/2013 - Charity Christmas Concert at Victoria Shopping Centre
we went to all their concerts and like other parents, we are so proud of our daughter. she must have played at least 7 different instruments, some i dont even know what they are called.
last saturday, when they played at Vic Centre, they were asked to leave the shopping centre after complaints it was too noisy.. what the hell???? they had been booked to play from 10-1pm but were asked to stop at 11am after performing 2 sets after receiving a number of complaints about the noise levels. what noise??? the shoppers and audience were enjoying it!! Ian, the music director managed to get another venue in the open space at Trinity Square within minutes and they did the flash mob which was really good.. the unfortunate event is in few online news - BBC, Guardian, Belfast telegraph, Nottingham Post to name but a few.

its so ridiculous.. as Ian said in the press statement "It's a bit disappointing for them (the children) when they're trying to do good, when there's so much bad around and they're told they can't do it."

At home. Took half day to watch little one's school play. She'll also be singing in the choir tonight for the lighting up.

Progress
After many months of lessons, and missing one last week, she has surprised me with sudden progress. Little one is now able to swim the front stroke for about 1/2 the length of the swimming pool. Alhamdulillah.

triple celebration
triple celebration within a span of a week can be quite overwhelming for some but who are we to complain..
3 very significant milestones in my (and our) life in September 2013.
autumn exam board meeting fell on my birthday and I couldn't take the day off but I was well compensated..
and the celebration continued at home last nite.. kids and daddy wanted pasta for dinner - simple enough for me to prepare in about half an hour.
starter : pea & mint soup and carrot & coriander soup from Waitrose (yeah, I cheated..but why not?)
main : broccoli pesto with mushroom and courgette pasta
dessert : birthday cake that Nicola (from the office) baked and gave earlier.
10 or 20 years ago, I never imagined that I would be celebrating my 50th birthday on a foreign land with my small family in our very own house..Alhamdulillah, berkat rezeki & kesihatan yg diberi Allah swt, here I am, a half centurian, typing this post at my new corner SOHO.
thank you to my siblings, friends and relatives for the warm & lovely wishes and doa for our anniversary, new home and my birthday..Insyaallah dimakbulkan Allah swt.
here's a short post by my other half.. http://doodlemom-mydoodle.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/happy-birthday-50th.html

Happy Birthday - 50th
It's a big milestone when one reaches the age of 50. Don't think of it as just getting old - it's the fact that you get more experienced, wiser and better that should be taken into account. Look at the universe - BILLIONS of years old, and yet still beautiful.
Happy birthday my darling - this hopefully is the best birthday yet as you get to celebrate it in your new home with your family who loves you very much.
I hope and wish you many, many more happy years.
Always - your hubby and daughters.

milestone #1
After more than 7 1/2 yrs since we left homeland, we finally found HOME.
Keys collected on 19th August. Alhamdulillah..
the house was built in 1975 and the previous owners were elderly people; the husband passed away early this year and the wife moved back to Yorkshire to live near her daughter. based on survey report, some immediate remedial work need to be done. and from Monday 19th, we've been busy seeing people who would be doing the works
1. electrical work - tambah sockets, tukar distribution board. ada VO & EOT sebab kena tukar wiring to most light fittings.
2. re-carpeting
3. remove and replace ceiling in the kitchen
4. remove the old gas fire & replace with electric fire
5. install new boiler
6. repaint wall paper.
my favourite room in the house must be the pantry which will be my mini kedai runcit.
rumah & tanah hanya sekangkang kera (tu pon kalau kera tak malu nak kangkang!!) but the garden is well kept. previous owner bayar gardener to maintain the garden but I guess I will do the work from now on.
the kitchen is "cute".. will make do with the kitchen cabinet yang ada sekarang until the time comes and duit dalam tabong dah cukup untuk buat cabinet baru.
hopefully boleh officially pindah in 2 weeks time..
