in loving memory of...

Wan Zaharah Ahmad, also & always known as Kak Wan. she's kamar's dearest sis in law who left us to meet her creator today.

kamar received the text from kakak at around 3.30pm and called me at work while i was waiting to teach the next class at 4pm. i was too upset to carry on teaching and was advised to go home.

she's a very dear person and a fine & gracious lady, loved & known by many for her cooking, kek lapis and kuih tart for raya and varieties of malay delicacies & kuih melayu such as kuih lapis, serimuka, kuih talam, lapis sagu, pulut panggang for minum petang and kenduri. she's not only known for her lovely food & cakes but for her warmth and kind heart. she's always been a dear friend and sister to kamar and kakak, yeb's great life partner and loving mom to their 2 children. and when i entered their family circle, i could never asked for a better biras.

she was very warm to me when i was first introduced to kamar's family way back in mid 1998. she took great pain in preparing all the hantaran for our simple engagement and wedding. she was the one who 'sarungkan gelang' on behalf of kamar's mom at the wedding. the reception at kamar's side was held at kak wan & abg yeb's place in DU.

2 years ago, she came to visit and stayed for 2 weeks with us, sempat masak macam2 for us. and not long after that we went home for our holidays and she was ever so obliging, cooked whatever kamar (& i) wanted to eat. kamar loves her nasi dagang but doesnt like gulai ikan tongkol, so kak wan would always make her special sambal tumis udang, especially for her cik mar. she doted on our 2 kids, especially the big missy who just loves her cooking, kek lapis and kuih tart.

the last time we spoke to her was on hariraya; few weeks after, she was hospitalised and passed on 3 weeks later. it only struck to us that she's really gone a few days after her passing and its going to take some time to sink in. whenever i open the fridge door and see the kek lapis she sent through a friend after raya, it always remind me of her persistence - "no matter what, the kek lapis should be given to noni & kamar & the kids in whole..tak boleh sikit2..."

she will be greatly missed.. Al Fatihah...
