North Wales : Day 4 - Llanberis & Snowdonia

on day 4, we left very early at 7.30am for Snowdon Mountain Railway station in Llanberis, to catch the 9.00am train up on snowdonia mountain. weather wasnt so good - wet and windy and we were advised to keep ourselves warm. for most of our easter trips, we would normally pack clothing & shoes for all kinds of weather.

signboard - all in welsh & english. Gwasanaethau is Services in welsh, pronounced Gua-Sana-Thau..but Gua Sini Tak Tau !!

Snowdon Mountain Railway Station

Eryri - the welsh name for Snowdonia means Land of Eagles. snowdon mountain dominates the landscape of north wales. at 3560 feet high, it is a true mountain and legend has it that it is the burial place of giant ogre Rhita, vanquished by King Arthur. the journey to the summit does not start till May. until then, the train stops 3/4 way up at Clogwyn Station after stopping at Hebron (half way up) where the steam train take on water. when we arrived at Clogwyn that morning, it was cloudy and wind was blowing at 50mph. keluar la jugak from the train to snap some pictures. we saw a few people climbing up on foot.

when we got back down, we spent half a day at Llanberis - Padarn Country Park

then drove to Caernafon. it was drizzling and cloudy but i managed to take some pics of the harbour and the castle.
