to celebrate daddy's birthday & mother's day the weekend before, I decided to book a family room in a b&b in Norfolk Broad, a place we've never been before. Gill said "you don't drive pass Norfolk to get to other places but you have to drive pass other places to get to Norfolk". reason being - Norfolk is right at the far east and you don't go anywhere from there.
the land is so flat, reminded me of Kelantan.
our first stop was Great Yarmouth, a seaside town which didn't appeal much to us. maybe because it was a dull & gloomy, drizzly & windy day. so we drove to our destination - The Broads.
The Norfolk Broads are a series of rivers and broads (lakes), most of which are navigable. The square area of the Norfolk Broads totals 303 kilometres, most of this is in the County of Norfolk, and just over 200 square kilometres of these waterways.
we stopped at Wroxham, the capital of The Broads. it is the perfect place for boat hire, bustling with activities in the summer, with many heading for Roys - the largest village store in the country. ROYS practically owns the town..
from Wroxham we drove for 6 miles to Bridge House, the b&b in Coltishall, the start of River Bure. had dinner at The Rising Sun, food was good, the people were friendly.
